About
We are Cut the Carbon, a new venture into reducing carbon emissions worldwide. We serve as a way for civil society to track their country’s carbon emissions in different sectors and discuss how their country should reduce emissions. We believe that creating a space free from the influence of established big businesses is important in bringing the power back to the people.
The plans that communities come up with can be used to pressure governments to act. The community’s ideas are a call to action on a global scale, calling for accountability from top carbon-emitting nations. These can also unite the environmental movement and serve as a joint statement from climate change activists, NGOs, and citizens.
Cut the Carbon is sponsored by Ocean Cooling Technology (OCT), a company working to cool the ocean through Marine Cloud Brightening. OCT is a subsidiary of The Lothian School of Technology, a charity based in Scotland founded by the late Prof. Stephen Salter. The charity’s goals include advancing environmental protection, promoting the sustainable management of natural resources, and supporting the training of climate change engineers.
